It was a young coyote. He was hunting mice in the middle of a pasture at a distance of about 200 yds. I did pace it off, but can't recall exactly ( was mid summer ) . The first shot I took at him, I missed, right over his head ( head on, between the eye's aim ) . The second shot connected, as he got broadside, a double-lunger. The yote only made it for 30 yds while biting and spinning, then piled up. I was a bit surprised to find there was an exit hole on the opposite side, at this distance. The bullet I was using, the one most accurate in this rifle, is the CCI V-Max. The BSA's BDC worked perfectly. My first shot, I had forgotten to adjust it, and held a little high. Once I dialed it in, it was smack-on! No breeze to speak of, just a humid summer evening, and using Stoney Point sticks.
