700 DL H&R .22WMR is beautiful
« on: July 01, 2006, 03:28:11 PM »
and functions like an Anschutz or really fine european rifle.  I just bought this rifle and put a Leupold fixed 12X on and am thinking it might make a dandy PD rifle.  Since I have never shot PD's I have followed you guys on the forum and already have the bug to go to Oklahoma.  I live in Missouri so it wouldn't be a terribly long trip.  Had a gunsmith take the trigger from 7lbs to just under 3 and have shot it very little.  Originally bought it to resell but am impressed with it.
Any opinions on this rifle greatly appreciated.

What did the gunsmith have to do to the trigger? I also have one, and it has a terrible trigger. What ammo shoots best in your rifle? I haven't found any thing so far that is exceptional. I did free float the barrel .

So this is not something currently in production.  Thought I'd overlooked one.

I don't know what exactly was done to this trigger but he goes through every firearm I own and does whatever is necessary.  Trigger and rifle performs flawlessly but it is toooo pretty for a clumsy hunter like me with a spinal cord injury.  I have it for sale in a gun shop for $400 and thats what I have in it.   Gunsmith is in Atlanta, Mo. and his number is 660-239-4361 but he hates to answer the phone so keep trying if you want to talk to him.  The rifle in Gunsamerica is the standard version 700.  The 700DL has high polish blue, gloss wood and cut checkering with a semi-target 24" barrel.  Also came with a mount and a 4x scope with a H&R logo on the scope.  Believe production was 1980-86.  This is the only one of the DL's I have ever seen and believe production numbers to be low.  Have talked with a lot of rifle people that have never seen or heard of this rifle combo..  I did finally achieve groups slightly over an inch at 100yds with CCI maxi mag.   FYI......
