M66 with Legend Grips

Just thought I would share a pic of my Taurus M66SS6 with the new grips. The Pachmayr American Legend grips were not for this model but were on sale for $9.95 as they are discontinued. I figured for 10 bucks I may be able to make them fit and had virtually nothing to loose if they didn't.

After 2½ hours with a power drill, wood chisel and a small file I finally fitted them and I think they turned out pretty good. The walnut and rubber does contrast well with the satin stainless and the feel is very nice also. I am yet to shoot with them.

I just came across a pair of these too for my 4” Taurus 431, at a local gun shop for $10.  While the original wood grips looked great, they were on the thick side and really punished the base of my thumb.  The profile of these grips fits my hand better and are decidedly more comfortable to shoot with.  The finish was a little on the thick side and very glossy, but 30 minutes of elbow grease and a sheet of 1000 grit sand paper did wonders!
