Last month my wife and I had to drive up the coast to take care of some family business. So, as we were driving through a small town off Hwy. 101. She shouts out “There’s a cannon”! I thought to myself, Ok, I’ll turn around to check it out. I was thinking it was a little lawn display ornament or, something like that.
But, to my surprise it turned out to be a neat little insurance rifle/cannon. You can see by the photos below that it is a rifled barrel. There is not much left to the rifling after the year. The muzzle measures out to be 4.62”. the tube itself is about 4'.
I was really surprised to see that it is just sitting there. Nothing is securing it from unscrupulous people. Anyway, I though you might enjoy the photos. Maybe some one here may use its design for their next project. :grin:
