in 300 win mag. Are these semi's capable of using the high end premium ammo safely? What are every one's thoughts them, ie reliability, ease of cleaning, accuracy, recoil????

Thanks,

I have a 30-06 w/boss and a 25-06 w/o boss. You can shoot anything except the Hornady Light Magnum or Federal High Energy type loads. The BOSS system is awesome, if you don't mind tinkering with it you can truly dial them in for tiny groups. Recoil is noticably less than a bolt gun. Reliabilty is a non issue, no problems with either one.

You cannot use the high energy loads, the powder burn rate is too slow and causes problems with the gas system.

from Browning webstite:
Q. Will my BAR rifle take the high-energy ammo?
A. We recommend you follow the ammunition manufacturers recommendations concerning the use of a specific type of ammunition in your BAR Rifle.

Hornady Light Magnum™ Rifle Ammunition
Item notes:
This ammunition is not recommended for use with Semi-Auto or Gas operated firearms. It is intended to be used only in a fixed breech style (example Bolt Action) firearm.

Thanks guy's. I crossed over to the dark side and got myself a 300 win mag in a BLR   It is a sweet shooter and I don't think I'll regret that purchase.
