What's it closest too, in performance, a 35 whelen or a 358 Winchester?

I have one in a 673 guide gun.  The 350 rem mag is closest to a 35 whelen.  It has 100 fps adavantage over the whelen.   the 350 rem mag shoots some where in the area of 50fps slower than a 300 win mag with a 200 gr bullet. As for the 358 winchester no comparison the 350 has almost 300fps advantage :D

I have never shot a .358, but I have shot a .35 Whelen, and I agree - the .350 Rem Mag is very close to a Whelen - which is quite a bit.  I forgot what loads I was using, but I think they were factor 200 grainers.  That Guide gun comes with a nice recoil pad, whereas the Whelen that I shot didn't.  Still, the 350 Rem mag hit you with some authority.  I used it on a hog hunt - great nitch rifle for that scenario.

Son has one and I sighted it in after installing scope for him....he was overseas at the time.  This new Guide gun with 200gr factory ammo was a pleasure to shoot.  I was surprised at the felt recoil....very easy to shoot.
