LOL, I know all about wives looking over the shoulder.  Mine caught me on EBAY one time getting ready to bid on some land in Montana.  :o  Busted!   Then she wanted to know where I had $30,000 hidden away.  I told her I was going to worry about that if I won the auction.  Needless to say, I didn't get to place a bid.   ::)

Anyway, you got a good deal on the gun.  Enjoy it before she finds out......LOL.   ;D

Got one for my son , and myself for Christmas.........walnut and blued, bull barrel .......204's      twins......gave my son the one with the nicer stock..although both are nice.     As far as shooting......well.....I stopped putting 8 1/2 x 11 notebook paper with printed targets after the second trip to my backstop range.........now, I duct tape sporting clays to the backstop.    I can see them explode....and if I am hitting those at 200 yards.....well...lets just say I am very happy with CZ.   Coyotes look like elephants after a few days of shooting clay targets.  Nuff said.

Seems we're all the same. I'm working outta the country for 6 weeks. Before leaving I go the green light to buy a 243, when i get back. The CZ and Nikon Monarch are already in the closet in my office at home. Drunk too much and now have to pick up Savage 12 Low profile in 204 when I get back  :-\ Don't get on gunbroker.com after a few beers!!!

Well Guys - had the weekend to try her out.  Shoots real nice, gotta get used to the set trigger - it's a lot lighter than I'm used to.  I mounted a Simmons 8x32x44  I had laying around.  So far (80 rounds factory Hornady) It's shooting 3/4 - 1 1/2 @ 100yd.  I tried 32 V max, 40 Vmax and 45 SP.  Really not alot of difference in the groups and I'm building brass for when I get the dies. (Suggestions? RCBS,Forster, Redding)

I'm a little disappointed in the groups, giving it a little time to break in, cleaning the barrel often, and getting used to the trigger. Looking forward to some hand loads.  I might try some other brands this weekend just for comparison (and the brass). I know some of the problem is me - round stock tends to roll in my Caldwell rock.

I am comparing the CZ to my beloved Tikka 595 Whitetail Hunter in .223 with Leupold Var III 8.5x20 30mm AO. That gun is a shooter out of the box!  Getting into handloads recently and it is even better! (1/2 -3/4)

Anyway, feel free to send along suggestions.  I know the Simmons is a weak point and I am looking into a Weaver V16 w-1/8 MOA dot to do the 204 justice.  Pending funds, I'll grab one of them unless someone has better value in quality scope.

I did float the barrel on the CZ - tip of the forend was tight so sanded a little to get it free.  Only had 8 rounds left and it did seem a little better.  Might try bedding action in the future if the groups don't tighten up but I've only done one bedding job so, I'm far from a pro at it.

So, that's where it stands now.  Forgot to mention initial sighting in @ 50 yds put 3 touching - I was real impressed but moving out to 100 yds they opened up more than I hoped.

Jump in with ideas - I really want this beauty to perform (like the Tikka) cause they make a nice pair!

Mine does'nt like factory ammo all that well, but the first handloads were shooting 1/4" groups with the 32 gr. Sierra and 27 grs. of H322. I stoped right there with the handloading development and loaded 500 rds. for the PD. shoot. My Savage 204 shoots the same ammo almost as well.    Digger

Thanks Ditch,
I have H322  I have been using in the Tikka with good results....I'll grab some 32 Sierras and a set of dies.  Neck size or FL?  If I can get 1/4"  I'll be one happy camper - then I can start deciding on the next new gun!
