So what kind of a pig is that exactly, or are they too mixed up to be considered pure bred animals?

I've read a bunch of these hog hunting stories and I gotta say I really enjoy 'em, but I cannot figure out what kind of animals they are, other then a bunch of guys point out that there are no free ranging Russian boars in N.A.

Here in central Alberta, a few people brought some kind of pigs in, and in the Lac St. Anne vicinity (west of Edmonton) some of these darn things escaped and are wandering the countryside... or were... not sure they haven't all been killed yet. The area landowners were none too pleased to have these things rooting up the countryside. But for a few years for sure there was an opportunity to hunt them, with no season or bag limits...

:D howie.  Nice hog.

Did you get this one to the locker plant in time to save the meat?  It has been too hot here to even think about shooting one.  At ninty-five+ the meat would spoil before I could get it to the processor.

A friend who lives out near my place said he has seen more hogs this spring that ever before.  Since there are no cattle running on the property now I don't check it out as often as I normally do, but I am sure they will still be there come fall.

If you look between the cutter on the bottom jaw and the first jaw tooth you will see a gap. If there is a small tooth between the two teeth the hog is a cross with a domestic or an escaped domestic gone wild. If there is nothing but gum between the cutter and the first jaw tooth his is a true feral hog.
