Navy Arms Model 92 357 mag Accuracy
« on: May 06, 2006, 05:57:56 PM »
Several years ago I ordered a Model 92 from Navy Arms (Rossi) in 357mag with a 24 inch octogon barrel and walnut stocks. The extraction was a little sloppy so I called them and they sent me a new extractor and ejector. Refitted the new ones and worked perfectly. Smoothed the action while I had it apart. The wood finish was so-so and I took the hardware off the stocks, washed the finish off with laquer thinner and hand rubbed several coats of true oil on the stocks. Beautiful wood grain. Reminded  me of my Model 94 Winchester when it was new in 1957. With super light loads in 38 special I hunted squirrel. With 1800fps 158gr jacketed soft points everything from whitetale to big ferral North-Central Texas hogs. Then it finally happened. Couldn't see the rear buckhorn sight any more. Back to a 22 with a scope and my 25-06 scoped. YUK! Then after a year or so this week I ordered a Lyman receiver sight just like the one on that Winchester. I drilled and tapped it for the Lyman and put a white stripped post front. Back in business and guess what. This thing will shoot with any lever made. I have a Marlin 1895 cb and that Model 94 I mentioned and it will out shoot them both. Squirrels, hogs, deer! Buy life insurance. The old man is back. If you guys want a good quality rifle? Try em! They will shoot. :D
