Model 7 vs M700 SPS or ADL
« on: April 28, 2006, 07:07:44 PM »
For a walking around rifle, what is better about the Model 7 that justifies the price difference.  Other than the available calibers.  Since I handload and I already have a 7mm-08, I was looking at the .260 Model 7.  Honestly, though, what is better than just getting an .243 M700 ADL?  I am pretty much limited to the short action calibers.  The Model 7 Youth does have iron sights too.

It pains me to say it, but the ideal rifle is looking more like what I remember Graybeard saying a year or two ago:  Model 7 in 7mm-08 with laminate stock and 2-7 scope.

I have had my model 7 7mm08 for about a year.  It shoots about everyting I feed it at an inch or less.  I taken a small buck and a big hog with it so far.  For carry in thick cover or quick shots I love it.  I have the 300 saum in a model 7, I like it as well.  It is a little over kill for whitetail, but it sure puts down fast.  Even though both of the rifles are model 7's, they handle completely different.  I have had model 7 in 243 that I harvested alot of deer with, as well.  To me, the price difference is worth it.  I am a tight son of bxxch my wife says.  Just look around and find you bargain that tickles you.  Guns are like women, even the bad ones have some merits about then.   Good luck!
