Hey Guys
Just got home from a great morning of shooting at the range...Temp was mild in the upper 60's...lite breezes...and the range was only 1/2 full for a change..
Anyway..I took my new 280 & 25-06 extractor barreled Ultra today..and shot 1 handload thru the 25-06..and 1 factory load..and shot 2 factory loads thru the 280..I started off mainly checking for velocities for my 25-06 load..using a 100 gr. Nosler partition..and the factory 120 grain Remington core-locks..Velocity was ok with the hand load..right at 3100fps with the Noslers...and 3020fps for the Remington factory...Accuracy wasn't anything to brag about with either..but I wasn't expecting it to be either..1-1/2-2" for both at 100 yards..
When I switched over to the 280 barrel...man things started getting real interesting..I was using the standard Remington 140 Core Locks..and some 140 grain Federal Premium TBBC's..
First up thru the screens at 3025fps was the Remingtons..

All I can say is
AWSOME...this is a 10 shot group at 100 yards...with 1 flyer opening the group up at the end(dangit  )...Everyone that has one of these 280 swear by this round...and I can see why now :agree:
Next up was the Trophy Bonded Bear Claws...

Not too shabby either...and I've haven't even started reloading for this one yet...
I've got a-lot more shooting to do with these 2 barrels..For the 280..Mike of North Fork Bullets sent me some of his Fantastic 140 grain bullets...along with some 200 grainers for my 338-06 to try out...and Ty at Barnes sent me some 140 Triple shocks..and some 150 grainers as well...I also have my old stand by's of the 140 &150 grain Combined Technologies to work with...so this is going to be a fun couple of weeks..
For the 25-06..I'm going to be trying something a-little different..Jonathan of Shooters Solution sent me some of his Moly-Fusion to use..This stuff has gotten rave reviews on a few forums of late in keeping temps down and making it clean up a breeze..not to mention increasing velocity somewhat on the wee bored rifles...so we will be giving it a good work out and see how it does for our Handi rifles...It's a 3 step process that has to be followed to the letter for optomum results..so this should be interesting to say the least..anyway..just thought I would share this with you all..Oh..I almost forgot..The 25-06 was wearing a Burris FF2 3x9..and the 280 has a Leupold VX-1 2x7x33 on it..Who says you need a 16x scope to shoot good ehh  Here it is again with the Burris on it..

More to come..
