Low Serial Number Hand Eject

I have low serial number S&W Hand Eject, "42XX" with a "6" and "3" inside above the serial number.  It has a 6 inch barrel marked "S&W 38 Special".  Bluing is good, with the eception of the muzzle.  Shoots fairly well.  My question is, is it a shooter or collector?
