I got my new leather from Big ED friday....man oh man nice stuff well worth the wait...now how do I break it in. My guns fit a little tight so they are hard to draw...let me know if ya have any ideas.

Old Boy does good work, doesen't he!? Glad ya finally got'em. Oil your guns, wrap'em in plasitic wrap, dampen the holsters (don't wet'em, just dampen) stick the guns in and let the holsters dry. They are supposed to be snug. Use is the best break in, but this will help shape.

Are they steel lined or just leather?

The steel ones need a little more work

usually if you just oil the gun up good and dampen the holster stick the gun in there and squeeze it around a bit then let it dry it should be well on it's way, just make sure you oil the gun up good or use the plastic wrap method described above.

Yeah I am glad I bought them from him....so even though the leather is finsihed its ok to dampen it? Should I just wet the inside or inside and out. The holsters are not steel lined just good old leather.

Just the outside should be enough. What you're doing isn't harming anything, so if a repeat is necessary, have at it

I always threw mine into a bucket of water, stuffed the gun in and hand-moulded it to fit, then set it out in the hot sun (or a hot car in the sun and cooked it dry. Then oiled it up for protection and to restore suppleness. The hot sun kinda shrinks it up around the gun. Maybe newer tanning methods and finishes won't let this work right.

I gots a new rig that pulls back a bit, especially the right side (my off hand). Mine are good hard leather with a molded liner and another innner liner of softer leather. I rekkon I'll ask the maker, Kirkpatrick, about what to do. They fit is already good, maybe a touch of talk would let er slip out with ease. H377z Fire; I'm slower than cool mollasses anyway! Don't ya rekkon ya otta ask yer leather man?

Howdy Slim! As a matter of fact, it was my Leather Man that I got the instructions from. I'd be willin to bet that it's gonna be a different story with those moulded liners though. My guess is that your gonna be right about the talc and use. Kirkpatrick does make some nice stuff, I had a holster for a couple of 27 & 29 Smith's that was near perfect.
