.40-65 barrel twist and bullet selection
« on: March 09, 2006, 02:27:06 PM »
Hello,

I'm getting ready to get a .40-65 barrel for my Rolling Block and wanted to know what twist to go with. I see that 1-16" is the standard now a days for heavy bullets. My question is, will that twist work well with the old 265gr weight bullets (1-26") too? I plan on mostly using those, but would like to occasionally shoot the heavies too.

Thanks

John

John-

The faster twist rifles handle the old light bullet load very well, or, at least mine does.  It's good out to 200 yards, at least.
