Sig pilgrim! Advice on a 229 deal, please
« on: March 04, 2006, 03:11:03 PM »
I have the opportunity to buy a used 229 with 450 rounds of factory ammo for $525. The 229 is in excellent shape, with night sights, three mags. Is that an average, good, or bad deal? Would I be better buying one of the certified pre-owned guns at $485-$490 without the ammo and only two mags?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

:D Prices differ from place to place.  If you are getting 450 rounds (9 boxes) of quality ammo that sounds like a fair deal.  The ammo alone would cost you about $100. (new ammo), that would put the approximate price for the gun at $425.  If the gun is in good shape, thats not bad.

I have picked up a used P229 last fall, for 300 but the buy owed me a favor.

I love this weapon, unless it is malfunctioning I don't think you will be dissapointed for the price.

Picked up the 229 and it is all that I expected and more. Shoots like a dream...no malfunctions over 500 rounds and it is on the mark. It complements my three other acquisitions: two Kimbers, a Grand Raptor II (internal ejector) and CDP Pro, plus a Smith & Wesson PC1911. The two K's and the S&W were NIB but acquired by trades.  :-D
