I took my Stevens 200 to the range today. I believe this is the third trip. I finally have the scope (Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14) dialed in and have putzed with the loads and figured out my favoriate.
The gun seems to love the Hornady V-max 110 grain over 39.1gr of IMR 4198. It also likes the Hornady 150gr SST over 44 gr of Varget, but loves the 110gr.
I used the setup that I will use for groundhogs and coyotes, my low sitting camo chair and stoney point tri-pod with the small stock holder stick.
Anyway, my shootin buddy (he was shootin his bullberry 223) and I were shootin the 12" gong at 400 yards. So it just got ho-hum....shoot...wham....shoot....wham...shoot.....wham....shoot....wham.
This Stevens just plug's 'em in there. It's just wonderful that you can buy a rifle for under $300, pull it out of the box and get this kind of accuracy.
I'll have to load up some more and go back to the range just to get bored again and again and again.
