Homemade grips
« on: March 01, 2006, 12:22:24 PM »
Has anyone here made their own grips for a FA revolver? I gave it a 1st try, and bunged them up. I'm going to try again. But if someone has already done it, some pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tuckerdog1

PS. If you've done it, sure would like to see 'em.

I did the oversize grips from FA and they came out very nice , I have made grips for Colt Clones in the past from scratch . When I return home in a week I am going to make some oversize blanks out of Corian , I got ahold of some Ebony (black) and some white. These will be for the old style of grip frame that uses a nut to hold the mainspring on . The only advice I can offer on fitting them is to go slow and keep cheeking the fit , FA gets like $200 ? for a set of fitted grips as apposed to $45 for the oversize blanks so it must tell you it takes a skilled person some time , for those of you that are like me and have only done a few sets with limited skill and am very paticular it takes alot of time to et them to come out right.
