I have never heard of paper patching and I just wanted to know what it was.

simply put your taking a under sized bullet  say a .451 and wraping it in cotton paper to like .458 to shoot in a 45-70the paper i use is 25%cotton. if you would like to try get the book THE PAPER JACKET buy paul mathews.  the paper allows you to shoot really soft bullets without leading the barrel

I've never done it, but the Cast Boolits website has an entire forum dedicated to this technique.  Apparently the guys who do it and become adept at it (and believe me, according to what they post over there they just about try everything imaginable) can get some pretty amazing accuracy by doing this. For those interested in velocity, they seem to get some pretty good speeds with patched lead bullets, too.

With paper patching you can equal, and in some cases exceed the velocity and accuracy of jacketed bullets. No leading, max velocity and great accuracy. Whats not to like?
