I have both, a M700VLS in .260 and the Ruger M77 VT in .243. Get the Remington - mine is superior to the Ruger in every way except the stock. That Ruger stock is wonderful, but it does not outweigh the accuracy and quality issues I had with the Ruger. The lightweight barrel on the Ruger is another issue, particularly if you want an accurate rifle which doesn't get hot as quickly, and which is heavy enough to ride the bags well.
After lots of bedding and metal issues the M77 was very picky about its loads. It shot the 55-grain Noslers pretty well, but not as well as the M700 shot about every decent load I tried. The aftermarket supports the Remington too, not that much for the M77s.
