Do something right first. Chamber your Model 7 and 7600 in Federals new 338 and have one butt kickin woods to middle distance rifle.

The Model 7 and 7600 are available in the 35rem so why consider an unproven chambering. The 9mm Rimmed Federal went the way of the Dodo Bird. Federal is giving the average joe a shot at a custom rifle without having to handload. Who's going to throw away an 06 or 308 for marginal performance.

35 Remington Model 7 Yes! from the Custom Shop $1000. The 7600 in 35 is a uncatologed item. The 338 will have more range and energy than the 35 but more weight and bullet diameter than the 308. Sounds like good knock down to me. Remington has had its share of sales flops in the caliber dept. 5mmRimfire Mag, 6.5Mag, 350 Mag, 8MM Mag. The 6.8 looks like a stillborn. No guts no glorywhen it comes to new calibers. Hey,we all know a 30-06 will kill everything so why bother with anything else?

I'd love to see Remington chamber their models 700 sps, cdl, mnt rifles and the many model 7 variants to the .338 Federal.  I own a Sako .358 win in the carbine configuration (rebored from .243) and an old model 70 pre 64 in .338mag...  I can see a lot of good things in that little package.
    Remington may as well try to beat Winchester and Ruger to the punch and  roll out some practical guns.

bypass all these .338 variants and get the real deal in a .338 Lapua mag. I wish Rem offered it :(

Their .338RUM is nice but when actual lapua ammo is used, the .338 lapua outshines it. One positive about the 338RUM is that its cheaper to shoot. The rifle that offers it is too light though, my shoulder wouldnt like me afterwards, hahaha.

Its becoming the new standard for sniping/long range hunting, they need to get it into their VS/VLS line.

If they do indeed bring the Sendero line back, that would be the perfect match. A 700 sendero with .338 lapua mag :)

One can hope right?  :D

The 338 Federal is not meant to be a magnum. It is a medium range mid bore caliber without the recoil or blast of a mag. For a lot of us its only deer, hogs and black bear@under 200yds, They are not made of Kevlar. They are made of meat, thats why we hunt them.
