870 SPS ?
« on: December 12, 2005, 10:59:13 AM »
I have been looking at an 870 SPS supermag at our local Wally World. You can get the shotgun for $300. It has the Realtree Hardwoods finish on it. As far as I can tell, it is about the best deal on a shotgun you're going to find.
My question is: does anyone know if you can get a cantilever slug barrel for this 870 in the same Realtree pattern? I have started looking around but have not found one yet.

That link is all the 870 barrels from numrich, they had one in mossy oak, didn't see the hardwoods.  What you can do is just get a blue cantilever barrel, and get some gun tape in hardwoods for it.  You can also talk to your local gunsmith, and see if they will do a custom job and put that camo pattern on there for you.

Omaha- that is exactly what it is. Do you know what version of Realtree the pattern is? I am a big fan of Remington pump rifles and shotguns and I think it really is about the best deal going. My neighbor has a similar shotgun and claims that the finish on it really holds up well.
Corbanzo-thanks for the idea. Gander Mnt. will finish the barrel for about $70 in the pattern you want. I think it is still cheaper than buying an 870 w/ the Mossy Oak pattern and then buying the camoed slub barrel to match.

I'll have to go check my box----there was a hang tag that said what the camo pattern is.

I save all the boxes---papers----hang tags etc-----just is case-----hasn't happened in quite a while---but sometimes I'll come across something that  I just GOTTA HAVE---then my trades are in as pristine condition as possible. Actually its been about a year since I've traded a gun---I've become a much more selective buyer too---and generally don't buy a gun if I have the slightest idea I might trade it----but there's always that "ya never know" factor out there too----so I like to be ready.
