Good day for Winchester 70 30-06
« on: November 27, 2005, 11:39:43 AM »
Just came back from the shootin range 1 hour ago.... I was using a winchester 70 in 30-06 (my first time with this brand new rifle) and let me tell you....I have never seen an accurate rifle with crappy ammo before   .... I was using silver bear 168 grain soft point rounds , I fired 3 boxes, and yes I do have to admit, i had a heck of a time sightin my scope.... i spent over 15 rounds just to sight the darn thing but after it was sighted in .... I was firing less than .5" groups at 100 yards right in the darn bulls-eye ( I had to put a new paper target every time we relayed (every 15 min) becuase I couldn't see what the bulls-eye looked any more, it was a giant hole)

The thing that tripped me out was.... It was sighted it at 50 yards and shooting very nice groups (less than .5") and WITHOUT any adjustments, it was doing the same exact thing for the 100 yards.....I thought that was kind of strange.

here is a link to the rounds i was firing (they seemed crapy and cheap but shot very well, and very clean too, I cleaned my rifle a while ago, it wasn't that dirty at all)
