Hooked solid
« on: March 11, 2003, 04:15:33 PM »
Hi guys, I stuck my nose in on every other forum that interests me so I thought do my part to provide interesting readin for others on this one too.

My fishin buddy and I lucked onto an outstanding cat pattern early last spring and caught more big fish in two weekends than in our whole lives combined. So, now I have pretty much forsaken all the "cute" little fish in favor of chasing cats. They got me hooked solid, and it don't look like they'll be letting go anytime soon.  On the last trip of the season I caught my first fish over 20lbs, a flathead that weighed 28, but fishermen can call that a 30 right? He ate an eight inch baby carp at 3:00 in the afternoon.

I've been a Daiwa man all my life, not too picky about rods, so far I like those quantum big cats because of their price and availability.
I haven't had any consistent luck yet on anyting but cutbait, shad seems to work immediately but blugills, carp and others have worked pretty good for me also.
Today it looks like spring has broken old man winters back, and I'm only about a month and a half from the first shots at those ol cats since last sept.   This is when cabin fever really gets me, it has been a lot of fun finding these forums.  I hope you boys down south have a good weekend, Im guessing your cats have already woke up from their long winters nap.

If there is one " how to " I would like to read about on this site it would be some posts about how to find shad after their sping runs. I can catch em all day long when they are running in the inlets but they are alot harder to find in the summer. Any one any good at it?

If you are on water with a dam you can motor up close to you can usually always find plenty below the dam.
