sako crossbolt help
« on: November 02, 2005, 04:25:23 AM »
Just got a sako 75 hunter in 300 win mag, although I have one in 270 this is my first with the cross-bolts. If a guy wants to take the action out of the stock, how do you back out the cross-bolts?

I don't have a Sako to tell you absolutely sure, but crossbolts are fairly common in heavier recoiling bolt action rifles of various brands.  They do not interfere with disassembly of the rifle.  In most cases, they mearly tie the two sides together where the stock is prone to split.  In the case of military mausers, they were also a steel block in which the recoil lug of the action fit against.  You should be able to remove the trigger guard/floorplate screws and pull the barreled action, just as you would any other bolt action rifle.
