Generally---the plugs in the scope mount holes will fit in the holes left bt removing the iron sights.

Just picked up on for $315 at academy sports.  Had one a few years ago that I let go in a trade.  Dumb move.  My older ADL shot less than 1/2" groups at 100 yards.  I do not know why a new one wouldn't.  Just like those $40,000 trucks the shinny wood guns that cost $1000 usally do not shoot any better, just like my old S-10 will get me where I need to go.

I noticed at our Wal-Mart last night that they have the Laminated Wood stock with Blued Barrel rifle in .30-06 and .270 marked down from 439.00 to 325.00.  I might just pick me up another in this model, and make it a .270 (already have the .30-06).  IMO, it is a beautiful stock.

Then how is it that whever you see an action for sale they want $350 and up?  I guess that is for the labor of removing the stock and barrel?

because the people selling the actions don't buy them in the same quantity as the wal-mart people do!

believe me, i've got a $250 Weatherby Vanguard from wally-world that shoots very well.............such that you can call your shots with it and count on them being there.    but I'd guess you won't find a Howa action (that's who makes the Vanguard) for sale very often for $250.

my remington's bought cheaply from Dick's C&S Goods, and used from a gun shop both shoot very well, too.

Our biggest local gun store sells in great volumes.   I have bought most of my guns from them for 30 plus years.   Not as many compared to Walmart, but they also provide knowledgeble service.
The ads yesterday had the Howa 1500 for less than $300.   That is a bargain that will shoot.    :-)

I've heard some skuttlebutt lately that Remington is not going to manufacture the 700 ADL any longer and thats why we're seeing them drastically reduced at Wal Mart.

Does anyone know differently?

Remington is not making the ADL anymore. They have come out with the model 700 SPS now. That's what the gun store told me today. I looked at the new model, it's ok not very much differant than the ADL, just afew features added.
The gun shop had several of the ADL's in afew calibres and I bought one today.
I have for awhile, wanted a rifle that is light and easy to handle, bolt action, and had to be 30.06 with iron sights that I could beat around with and not worry about dents and scratches and of course, shot well to at least 100 yards so, the ADL Remington is it.
I cleaned this new rifle and shot it at 100 yards just alittle while ago and I didn't have time to put a target up as it was getting dark but, I have a round piece of iron about 8'' in diameter at 100 yards, hit it every shot from the bench and offhand. Iron sights too.
I believe Remington is doing alright, of course they could do better, most companies could.
