Where I sat today for the afternoon.
« on: October 15, 2005, 03:13:09 PM »
A few pics from a tree stand I have set up for bowhunting.
Was there from 2 to 6:30 today. My first full afternoon at this spot.
1/2 hour before dark 2 button bucks & mom came thru. The fawns came up from behind me & one got right under my stand without me knowing about him, I spotted his brother about 15 yards out & from 25 or so feet up he didn't look like a deer at first, thought it was a giant ground hog for a second.:)  Well after I found the twins I started looking for mom figureing she likely already busted me when I saw her nose poke out from behnd a tree. She came in the other way round. Watched them for 15 minutes or so till they got down wind & scented me. Not sure why as I sure tried hard to be scent free but whatever, they did. The little guys got busy looking for where that funny smell was coming from whle mom just stood there behnd some leaves 25 feet away looking around. Took her 5 more minutes before she had enough & started walking away. As she went she gave me a perfect broadside shot maybe 10 yards out without a clue where I was hiding. I drew my bow & followed her waitng for her to get in just the right spot & then I let the bow back down.  :?  I dont even know why. The seasons a month old & I havent seen deer in range till today. It rained here every day since last thursday & I swore I was gonna take the first growed up deer I saw because as far as I'm concerened I'm fallng behind & need to put sumthing in the freezer.
Well theres always tomorow I guess & theres sure more deer but I hope  dont regret letting her go.

Heres the pics, no deer just the view, pretty thick place to hunt but ALOT of sign.

This is where the boys came from.

This is where they all went.

These are just different directions.
