Ok i was at da range today and i pasted a nice sub 1" yrd groups but the thing was it took 5 shots to do so, meaning 2 of them went wide. Same blasted thing happening at 50 yrds as well. I thought it was what seemed my really bearing down on the shots that grouped well, but a couple seemed odd. is it me?

Neither the NEF or the CZ will shoot best until you break the barrel in, that's gonna take some time and/or a little barrel lapping with flitz or JB. My CZ452 American took about 3 or 4 boxes or ammo before I saw dime size 100yd groups.

LS308, please list the steps you've taken so far with the Sportster, both in prep and shooting technique.

If you're shooting with any breeze at all, you're gonna see some lateral stringing, depending on the velocity and angle of the wind.

well when i brought it home i took it apart and flushed the receiver with cleaner and wiped CLP inside it then used an air compressor to blow out any junk. Then i used TAMIYA model paint on the scope screws and cleaned the bore. Otherwise i haven't done anything to it. I've put 50rnds or Remington and 40 or so of Federals through it.

Hmmm...to me a group is 8 shots, minimum, so that wouldn't be a sub 1" for me.  Sounds like you are just shooting shots until you get 3 in a row close together - that's 'cheating' !      :D

:?: An 8 shot string (minimum) for group? Boy I have been shooting a few years and have never heard that. I may also agree that when shooting a string of shots for group, either a 3 or 5 shot group, the shots should be consecutive, but I think "cheating" is an awfully harsh word to use on this forum and among friends. Each to his own way of shooting for group, and I personally feel those flyers may be in the execution of the shot. We all know these fine little rifles cam be quirky at times, perhaps try another brand of ammo also. I do hope and suspect the word "cheating" was meant in jest, but if not, perhaps and explanation or apology might be in order. Sorry guys, I read the post and kept my mouth shut for a while but just could not let it go. Please take this in the way it is meant, in a freindly manner, to keep open and civil communication between we on this forum...<><....

i took it in jest, and to get away from this i was wondering if exessive fouling will lead to POI changes? cause 30+ rnds into shooting i noticed a 1-2" change and group size increased a good deal too.

Generally from a clean bore, once the bore is well broke in,  a 17hmr will take several fouling rounds before accuracy and POI get back to normal, sometimes as many as 20-30 rounds. How many rounds ya got thru it now and did you lap the bore first?
