What is a good quality synthetic stock that is made to fit a ruger mark II?What kind of job is it to put it on my gun?Will i need a gun smith? Thanks

If money isn't an object,McMillian makes good stocks. If you want function over form, put an add out looking for the old UGLY original Ruger synthetic stock. It's UGLY but is actually a good stock. I just can't replace mine on my Stainless MKII since it works so well. Uncle Mikes makes a kit to convert them to QD swivels. You could probably get one cheap since everyone hates their looks. I replaced the sling swivels on mine with Uncle Mike's sling swivel studs. I mounted the machine screw swivel stud through the front of the forend and drilled a hole to start the stud in the rear, screwed it in half way, backed it out and cut the stud shorter to install it. It works great. IF I did replace the stock it would be a laminated one. I like a little weight to my rifles for stability.

The ONLY after marker TRUE synthetic stocks that I use to replace my plastic stocks are McMillan and HS Precision - PERIOD. However, I am not certain if they make stocks for Rugers. I think they do, but you'll have to check their websites.

Stock replacement is VERY easy if the stocks are "drop-in" stocks. It's just as easy as putting on your original plastic stock.

I have a Ruger M77 in 300 Win Mag and wanted a camo synthetic. Bought a Bell Carleson Classic from lock stock and barrel needed a reinforced lug due to the mag and extra for camo about $200. Having it pillar bedded but shot fairly well. The medalist is a little more money but has alumium embedded and would not need pillar bedding. Have been happy with it. Hunted elk in Montana and africa with success in both. I like it.
