truck cap interchangability???

I just bouhght an 05 Ford F-150 long box  4-wd and am looking for a used cap.  Does it need to come off another Ford & if so does the year matter?   Are there any other models & years that are compatable?  Thanks, Al

Ford beds are a slightly different width than other trucks and each brand has a slightly differnt taper to them.  Even between Fords, there's differences as the SD models typically have a wider bed I believe.
