Reckon I beez as ready as I'm gonna get.

Took all three rifles out to the range this morning for a final shooting session and the final sight in. First up I worked on the dang Savage until I was real close to tossing it in the woods. Finally gave up on it. No matter what I did to it the silly thing moved off some where it didn't belong. It will go back to the shop I bought it at after I return from OK. Just not worth the time and my patience.

Next up was the "super duper highly modified handi". First shot with the first of the three loads I'm bringing was a we tad low. Made an adjustment and it hit 1.5" high at 100 yards jist lack I wanted it to. Shot both of the other two loads. One of them is also 1.5" high at 100 yards and the other is a bit high but a bit left also. Probably won't use that load in that rifle.

Last up was the R700VLS. Used same three loads as for the "super duper highly modified handi" and it too needed a wee bit of tweaking after first shot. Moved it up and right and now it's 1.5" high with the same load using the Hornady 40 V-Max and Nosler 50 BT and dead on with the load using the 50 Hornady V-Max.

So both guns are ready and I'll likely bring a .22RF in place of the Savage .17 HMR. I will NEVER EVER again as long as I live buy another Savage. Matter of fact I wouldn't take one iffen it wuz free.

Got all the stuff I'm gonna take rounded up and all of my ammo loaded. About the only thing left to do is pack the bags and pile it all in the truck to be ready to head west. Dennis is supposed to be here in time for an about 3:00 AM departure next Wednesday morning.

See you guys what make it out by then on Thursday night in Hooker.

Sorry to hear about the trouble that Savage.... :(   I'm about ready too Bill...got all the sightin done I'm gonna do...I did change out the trigger group between two Rugers...the 10-22 had a nice crisp pull but the 10-22 I converted to 10-17M2 just had a not so great trigger so I switched um out...still need to pick up a few more boxes of ammo for it but no big deal....I liked the looks of your bench...I got  one of the 'trigger Happy Benches" awile back...it's pretty stable but should have gone with the comventional style table...allot of knobs and platforms on the one I got...anyway...got to change the oil in the pickup and load up my stuff and I'm ready too...ya'll be careful!! :D

Man; I wish I could say that!  :?

Went today and bought some clothes to wear out there. Could not find any tan colored t-shirts. Have got the pants and a hat but no shirts. And I have mostly black t-shirts. ( No way in that hot sun.)
The AR still has to be broken in. Hopefully tomorrow I can run a couple of boxes through her. The Ultra has not been cleaned in about three weeks. Don't know if I should clean it before going out there. ( You know how those Handi's are about clean barrels.)
Can't decide wheather to bring my Rem. Mod. 7FS or bring the Marlin 1894FG in 41mag. for the open sight challange. I've got about 100rnds. loaded for the Rem. in 7mm-08 using the Speer 110gr. HP/TNT. They group around an inch.
Don't want to take too much stuff, might not be able to fit it all in Bill's truck.
Oh well, still have four more days.

Dennis  :D

We ain't gonna be out in the sun that much Dennis. I bought us a "shade house" so we can be in the shade. I really can't be in direct sunlight more than a couple hours before I start to burn and I do mean BURN. Mid day sun will literally cook me. One summer we went out to a local lake for the 4th of July and I stayed in swimming for 3-4 hours. I had water blisters as much as 3" long and an inch wide all over my back and much of the rest of my upper body. Was laid up and missed nearly a week's work over it.

This old fat boy is gonna be in the shade most of the time one way or another.

Not so fast there Mitchell. I just broke the handle to my manual primer after priming only about 30 rounds. Depending on when I get another, I may be reloading on the way out to Oklahoma on Friday.

Reckon I'm not quite finished either. I put together three different loads for my .223s. One with Varget and Nosler 50 BTs. Shoots beautifully in both rifles and to the same POI in both. Another was using Hornady 40 V-MAX over H335 and it too shoots to same POI in both guns and not only that but to same POI at 100 as the Nosler 50 BTs. Nice.

But one rainy day when I started to load up some using Varget over 50 Hornady V-MAX there was too much static electricity and the powder was clumping and not loading properly. So I used some W748 instead. Beautifully accurate and runs a bit over 3400 fps for 50s. BUT it don't shoot to same POI as the other two.

So I thought I'd load up some more of the 40s over H335 since it flows well and I still have something over 300 of them left. But I only have a little of it left. So I drove over to Gadsden to the gun store today to get another can. They were closed. And iffen they is closed today I'm sure they'll be closed on Monday. So iffen I load up anymore of those loads it will have to be on Tuesday after buying more powder assuming they even open on Tuesday.

I'm thinking I need to give the Varget load another try. I have plenty of the bullets and powder for it. IF the dang stuff won't clump up on me from static electricity. So I reckon I'm not quite finished yet.

I did begin getting some of my boxes together today. Have the sand bags in the garage and the Tipton gun vise for cleaning them. Got my cleaning gear together also.

Bill which Savage 17HMR is it? The heavy barrel or sporter barrel. Wood or synthetic stock.

If it’s the heavy barrel with the wood stock PM a price for the rifle. I might take it off of your hands. I almost bought one at Wal Mart but got a sunshade instead. (I don’t want to cook in that Okie sun either.

Mitch the booom was lowered on me Friday night.
My cousin Larry called and said that his 2 businesses are keeping him from the reloading room.
So I'm ordering everything from MidwayUSA Tuesday and start loading on Wednesday around 1pm(when UPS show up).

So I don’t know if you win the procrastion contest I think my cousin does, or me hehe since I’m doing the work.

As I'm typing this, my wife is cooking lunch/breakfast, I will finish the reloading on .308Win. I finished the 223 Friday 204 yesterday and if all goes well the 308 today.

Still need to finish the shooting bench, but that will come Tuesday my buddy is out of town that has the welder.

Bill don’t forget to drop me a PM on that Riffffle.

PM sent Warf.

The rifle I have has a laminated wood stock and a heavy barrel. It is full SS and has a nice SS metal clip not like the dang plastic ones Remington uses these days.

According to the box which I am looking at it is a Mod. 93R17 BVSS.
