sako and tikka dovetail
« on: May 16, 2005, 02:03:58 PM »
can anybody tell me if the sako 75 and tikka t-3 have the same dovetail set-up ( degrees) for the scope ring to clamp on. Or in otherwords can I use the same rings for both guns, thanks.

Unfortunately, they are not the same and bases won't interchange. Coincidently, I just got done putting a set of Tikka Optilock scope mounts on a T3 tonight and I have to say they are the highest quality mounts I have ever seen. I could never bring  myself to spend $125 for mounts, but I found these on Gunbroker for $50. I have Weaver bases with Luepold rings, Warne, Millett and factory T3 mounts on my other Tikka's and the Optilocks are my favorite - sturdy, easy removal with return to zero and great fit and finish like Sako/Tikka is in general, in my opinion.

Sako has dovetail mounts - the Tikkas on the other hand have a straight rail. Rings cannot be interchanged.
