Well, today my dad gave me a 12g that he bought about 14 years ago and never put one round though it.
About 14 years ago my dad and close friend of his was planing a hunting trip into the north east. They plained the trip for many months, went out and got some new shotguns and gear. I was young at the time only about 10 or so, but I remember how glad my dad was to be going and he wished he could bring me along.
Any-how 2 weeks befor the trip my dads friend was killed by a drunk driver. It beat my old man up so bad he put the gun away and never looked at it again. Today while going though the gun cases we have at his house, messing with him I said "hey man why dont you let me take that old 12g home and air it out". To my suprise he said "take tha damn thing Ill never use it".
So, I took the box home and looked though it. The paper work and recipt was still in the bag. The gun was still in the plastic bag it came in. There was a leupold scope in the box, that was still in its box and a sling. The gun is 100% never even been fired. Just sat in a gun case. My dad said he never even sighted it in for slugs, never even mounted the scope.
Well, the gun is a "Winchester Model 1300 Ranger". It came with two blls one rifled for deer slug and one for smooth for shoot. The top of the gun is drilled and tapped for a scope and the stock is a rich brown.
Is this a okay gun? Can anyone tell me about it? Will it make a good slug gun? Or, is it a better bird gun? Can I push this gun 100 yards? Any help/ info on this gun would be great.
Thanks guys.
Dave.
