I've seen a few Anaconda's with 8" barrels that were ported. It seems a factory item.
My question is how much is the expected velocity loss with full power 44 mags compared with unported barrel?

Ported vs. Non Ported Anaconda

I have no evidence to support this position, but it would seem to me that very little velocity would be lost with the porting at the end of a barrel, and that the loss would be insignificant, especially with the increased controllability of a ported gun.THe ported gun might be a bit louder that the non ported version.Does this make sense to anyone else?

I have a ported 6 incher and loss over a chrono is small ..

Also it doesnt help as much with recoil as they claim im kind of disappointed and for the extra noise i would prefer it non ported

Do you have any information about the load that was being used?  I'd bet my next paycheck that the load was WAY too hot or that somebody shot a squib and then another round before clearing the barrel.  On second thought, the barrel does not looked bulged so the squib notion is out the back door.
