Anschutz 1541 Sporter Target Rifle-Help please.
« on: April 12, 2005, 03:30:58 AM »
hello, i am currently looking for a good smallbore silhouette rifle, it must be .22 caliber. I saw an Anschutz Sporter Target rifle at a local gun shop and i love the feeling of it. It was only $495. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this rifle. What are its shot groupings at 100 yards? Is it reliable? How is the trigger? If you can send me pictures of shot groupings, or answer any of these questions please reply.

The Anschutz is made in Germany.  What is the difference?  Both are well made guns, the price difference is most likely appropriate.  Both countries are now known as precision machining countries.  Neither one is American made.

I'm no world history expert but I don't think the Czech Republic is a communist country or otherwise associated with the repressive behaviour of the Soviet Union, except as a victim when it was still Czechslovakia. It is now a member of NATO. It has a history of fine firearms manufacturing older than the US and Brno, where I think CZ is still made, is one of the greatest centers of firearms craftsmanship of all time. Just thought I'd throw that into the mix.

CZ groups very, very well, the several I've worked with and seen. The triggers need work but it's easy and cheap to do. There's a fellow named Brooks, I think, who makes a spring kit that is easy to install and does just what you need. There are many different Anschutz triggers. The target level triggers are expensive. I have no experience with the economy model to which you refer but I strongly suggest that if you want an Anschutz for silhouette, save up for a top of the line model. The important thing is to start shooting matches and decide, over a period of a few seasons if necessary, whether this is really the sport for you.
