Savage Model 10, older model.
« on: April 20, 2005, 06:07:07 PM »
The guy at my local gun shop has a Savage Model 10 with a 26 inch barrel and synthetic stock. It does not have the over sized bolt or the Accu-Trigger but he has it priced at $439.00 out the door. Its in the 223 Rem. I'm going out to Okalhoma this June for a P-Dog shoot. The gun is brand new and I was wondering if that is a good price.
Also what is the maximum weight bullet the 1 in 9 inch twist can handle.
Thanks for the help.

De,

Why not trapaise into Wally World and see if you can special order the rig with the Accutrigger for not much more. I have the 12FV with the Accutrigger and really like it. The fast twist will stabilize the heavier bullet weights better though your particular gun may differ. I shoot Hornady 55 gr SP  and never tried anything else yet since these shoot SOOO Good for me. I am thinking about going to 62 or 64 gr just to see what they do in my rifle.

Safe shooting.

$439 without the accu trigger is pretty high. Shop around and I'm sure you can find a better deal.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

My local Gander Mountain store has brand new Savage 12FV's (with the Accu-Trigger) in stock in 223, 22-250, and 308 for a price of $449.  If I order from one of the local gun shops I can get it cheaper than that.  I'd check around....price seems a little steep.
