Rem 700VSF

Picked up a new Remington 700 VSF in .308 Win recently (lefty, of course).  Topped it with a Nikon Buckmasters scope.  After breaking in the barrel, went back to the range yesterday with some factory ammo and handloads.  After zeroing the scope at 100 yds, Black Hills 168 grain ammo had a max spread of 1.255".  Tried out 8 different loads of 3 shots each.  All using 150 grain Sierra gamekings with varying amounts of 3 powders (Hodgdon's BL-(C)2, AA2520, and IMR4064).  All but one grouped under an inch, and the exception was only 1.036".  Tightest group was 0.380".  Some guns are a little finicky with respect to what they like, and others seem to shoot most any load accurately.  This one's a shooter!  Anxious to repeat groups with the more promising loads and try some different bullets.

I have a Remington VSSF (Varmint Synthetic Stainless Fluted) in .308.  It was new when I bought it, and they are no longer made.  They are essentially Sendero SF's in short action.

I used two loads during break-in and hunting.  For initial break-in, I used cheap plain-jane Winchester power-points.  I got 1MOA with those.  Then I used Hornady ammo, and got a bit under 1MOA with those.

As such, so far two loads shoots 1MOA or better.  Yea, you could say that I'm a happy camper.
