Mauser question
« on: March 19, 2005, 02:44:46 PM »
About 20+ years ago I bought a Mauser HSc from a friend. It came with what looks like a Mil. holster made of leather with a space for the spare clip sown to the out side. There are no markings on the holster that I can see.
The side of the gun says Mauser-Werke A.G. Oberndorf a. N.
                                     Mod HSc         Kal 7,65 mm
The serial number is 852XXX. There are also what appear to be Natzie (sp?) insignias on each side of the trigger guard where it meats the grip.
Do you think this is a WW II issue gun or a police weapon and any idea what something like this is worth??
When I bought it, the guy gave me a box of 32 auto ammo and said thats what it shoots. I did shoot it with the 32, but is that OK, it seemed to work just fine.
As you can tell I know nothing about German guns and would sure appreciate some info.
 Thanks.

Bis - sounds like you have a WWII production Mauser HSc with Nazi markings.  Can't tell youmuch about the holster except that they came with an external magazine pouch, as with the one you have.  However, it may even be a post-war production holster.

As to value - you see these at gun shows for around $300 in good shape.  As I recall, the design of the pistol has not changed but I don't know if they are still in production.

Yours is in the 7.65mm or 32 ACP caliber.  It fires standard 32 automatic cartridges.  It is a solid and reliable all steel gun and should last long enough to pass off to your children.  Years ago I had the opportunity to purchase a number of these pistols (new) for my team members who were being deployed throughout some South American nations.  None ever complained and may still have their guns.  HTH.  Mikey.

Thanks for the info. I have no idea why I bought the thing other than it looked neat (all my stuff is U.S. mil.).
It is a nice shooter, at least the the one box that I got with the gun. Now that I know for sure that it takes 32 ACP I will have to make a trip the gun shop for ammo.
 Thanks again.

The Nazi acceptance marks could increase the
Price substantially if you find the right collector.

Thanks, it is such a neat little gun and the only one my wife likes to shoot, that I think I will hang on to it.
