Pre '64 Winchester M-70 Featherweight Question??
« on: March 12, 2005, 12:32:08 PM »
I am insearch of a pre '64 M-70 featherweight stock. I have been told that Winchester used the same stock on the '06/270 Ftw's as they used on the 243/308/358 length actions. Is this the case? Can I use an '06 stock on my 358 barreled action? I am not a collector (as you can see!). Any input would be appreciated. Or if you have a Pre '64 Ftw 358 length stock that would work too. Thanks for looking!!............Tim

Tim50,

I have a pre 64 M70 fwt in .308 Win. The magazine is blocked and the bolt has a bolt stop to shorten the throw. So it would appear that the 30-06/270 is the same length action as used on the 308/358 chambered rifles. I have a .270 Win pre 64 fwt arriving (from the US) any day so will be able to confirm it soon.
