Dan Wesson 44magnum questions....help
« on: March 09, 2005, 02:46:48 PM »
I have been looking at a Dan Wesson Stainless revolver in 44 magnum at my local dealer.  I have experience with S&W, Colt, and Rugr revovlers, but not Dan Wesson.  Can I get any opinions on the this model DW? Wha to look for?  It only comes with a 8" barrel and shroud.  Can new barrels and shroudds be found?  Anything to help my decision process would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jake,
I believe Dan Wesson revolvers are some of the best in the world and very durable.  I buy them used all the time.

URL Check this post for more info about buying DW

New and used barrels and shrouds are readily available through the factory or auction sites.

Stronger than a Smith & Wesson.  More accurate than a Ruger.  Able to stop a speeding locomotive.  You get the idea.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I regard the DW as much better looking than the Ruger.

The DW 44VH I'm considering has an 8" barrel, it's Stainless Steel, and looks basically new.  The asking price is $430.  Sound Fair??

You could probably do better on the price at one of the auction sites, but buying it locally you get to actually see it before you buy it.  $430 is not a bad price.  You will certainly be getting your moneys worth.
