I once heard that these were Japanese imports. I seen one at a gun show in 222 and it was gorgeous. The owner wanted $600 for it and told me that it was made in Japan.

If I remember right, wasn't the 800 made in Mossberg's "Pederson" custom rifle shop? They also put out the Pederson O/U shotgun. I've seen one of the shotguns and it didn't say "Made in Japan" on it.

Don :  The 1500 series I was refering to were the rifles not the shotguns that were made in the pederson shop, they also made a shotgun in that plant model 1500 but it doesnt show the 800 series being made there. :D    JIM

The Mossberg 800 series rifles were produced under the Pederson name.  They were produced by Mossberg. they also produced a SxS and an OU as well as a verson of the M500. All were marked Pederson, which was a subsidiary of Mossberg.

Per Mossberg, The pederson plant was "building number 2 "- behind the main plant Building " number 1 " the Model 800 was made in the main plant building number " 1 " . :D    JIM
