Let me hear from Alaskian Muzzleloaders

If Senator Seekins is successful in getting the motorized vehicle restriction lifted on the Dalton.  How many people would like to see a muzzleloader season in that area, say a quarter mile from the pipeline?

Only if there is a muzzleloader certification just like bow hunting.

Ouch......I know I am going to take a hit from that statement but:

I am from NY and the most popular day at the rifle range was the day before deer season.  I think that too many people that can't hit the broadside of a igloo will be up there blasting at anything they "think" is in range.

I wouldn't go, but that's just my opinion. It would be a freaking nightmare with hundreds and hundreds of people up there.

Of course, I would support a muzzleloader season up there if there was the chance of one opening in the future. More hunting and hunting seasons the better, IMHO.

But like dave says with certification only  or you will have wounded animals dying
all over from beginer  first time BP hunters. Would be a bad slap on our face and ruin any new chances.
I would like to see a lot more black powder area permits for moose and bear also
a late rut moose  or  even a few drawing permits fo cows .

Guys: Just like with archery, if it's a scheduled Muzzleloader hunt, you have to have a muzzleloader certification.  That would cut down on the numbers also.  

After giving it some thought it might not be a good idea, Since you would have all the gun hunters going through the area to access areas beyond the 5 mile limit. I've got to think about this more.

I dunno.  I miss the old days when you could use anything other than a .22 rimfire anywhere in the state, and even that restriction was lifted north of the Yukon.  Shucks, if you wanted to drop out of a tree on a moose and kill him with your bare hands that was okay, as long as it was during open season...  But then again we had half the people we have now. :cry:

I really don't see how an ATV will help on a muzzleloader hunt, but then I never had much use for one anyway.  What experience I've had with folks on snow goes have left kind of a sour taste in my mouth for using motorized vehicles in hunting.
