What'saWin. 94in 32 Win Special worrth?
« on: March 16, 2005, 12:46:15 PM »
I have a opportunity to pick up a Winchester 94 in 32 Win Special.  It's in good overall shape, blueing on the barrel 80%, bluing on receiver <50%, rifling sharp and clean.  I have been told the rifle is a pre 64 (S/N 21216xx).  I think I can pick it up for $200.00 is this good?

thanks,

bigboar :?

For a pre-64? Are you kidding? Yes it's an excellent deal. If you don't want it how about letting me know where it is.

I ran across one similar a couple months ago for $269 in a pawn shop.  I didn't know what I was looking at til I got home and looked it up.  Come to find out it was made in 1942.  I hurried back to the shop the next day to get it, but it was gone.  Been kicking myself ever since.

Sorry to but in here... but can you help ME out jhm?

I inherrited 2 94's from my grandpa.  The 32 was "my gun" when he taught me to hun 25 years ago.  I was always proud of the fact that my grandpa and I had matching guns.  It sure became a problem when we tried to tells whose was whose early in the mornings, before heading out to the blind.

How do you go about checking serial numbers??

I wouldn't trade either of them for the world.  They are a peice of America's and my history.  Were it not for the influence my grandpa and that 32 had on me then, I might not have turned out to be the man I am today.

Try www.savage99.com/dates.htm

It lists Winchester dates, too.

You can check manufacturing dates on any number of web sites.  I use the www.oldguns.net.  Click on "Manufacturing dates", "Winchester", and then the model number.

SWEET...Thanks alot!

It looks like my 30-30 was made in 1940, and the 32 in 1949.

I guess my grandfather's story is true!  He said the he bought the 30-30 for himself before he entered WWII.  He bought the 32 for himself (plus an engagement ring) for my grandmother shortly after he returned.  The exact order in which the purchases were made seemed to be a bit fuzzy in grandpa's mind...but granny was quick to point out that grandpa's priorities were soon "re-adjusted"  :)

Thanks everyone. I got it for $175.00 but get this, the fellow threw in a hard case, 2 knives, fist-aid kit, 200 round of Winchester Silver tips.  I wasn't wearing a robbers mask honest.

You need to seriously consider buying some lottery tickets today.  You are having one lucky day.  The 200 rounds of ammo is worth what you paid for the whole outfit.

The blue book of values has more info in it than the value of a gun I use it every day to determine the value, condition, and age of alot of guns. :D    JIM
