Rem 700 SPS Stainless
« on: February 13, 2005, 05:03:01 PM »
Has anyone got a Remington 700 SPS stainless.  The gun looks good on Remingtons website but I would be interested in anyone comments on it.  Is the synthetic stock the same as what was on the ADL or is it any better or worse?

I am planning to get a new rifle soon and am considering either the 700 SPS or possibly a tikka T3.  I would get a 700 CDL but am afraid it would get scratched up real easily while hunting.

I handled one in the very dull matte blue finish and the stock looked like an upgrade from the ADL. Floorplate fit and function was good. Barrels are long - 24 for standard cals and 26 for magnums. Also handled a T-3 stainless/synthetic. Stock on it was much nicer and fit and finish were considerably better for about $40 more. Only question is whether Tikka has resolved the metallurgy problem.

These new sps's look interesting, but I 've 3  t-3's and must say I'm very happy with them; they will be tough to beat. I love the bolt throw compared to my remy.
