Anybody know what this Tikka is worth?
« on: March 15, 2005, 02:42:23 AM »
My friend purchased a Tikka at a gun show a while back and is wondering how much it's worth. It is an M695 25-06 with "made in Finland" on the barrel along with the Warnings about the owner's manual which it says can be obtained thru the importer, "Beretta Corporation". There are two "Crown" like emblems on the gun also, one on the barrel and one on the bolt. It has the synthetic stock and a stainles, fluted and gas ported bolt. The serial number is 2466xx. Anyone know what this gun's value might be?
Thanks a bunch,

Sounds to me like this is a Tikka Whitetail model, the one before the T-3 came out.  Just a wild guess, but I would think it may be worth $450 if it's in excellent shape.

Soon after I posted this I went to the Beretta site and found that the crown emblem is actually the Beretta emblem and that they didn't start importing these until 2000. So we know more than we did but I would suspect that it should be worth more than $450, just guessing here though.

I looked at a 243 Whitetail Hunter...like the one your friend has this morning...it listed NIB for $698...so...used would bring the value down somewhat...more-so on where your trying to sell it as well...I looked at a regular stainless SAKO with their nice 2 tone synthetic stocks...used price on it was $743...and it looked like it hadn't been shot at all...those go for  well over a $1000 new too...if he sold it outright and didn't try to trade it...he could probably get $500-$550 for it to the right person... I have heard they are supposed to be tack drivers...ya thinking about getting it from him????? :)

If it's a NIB Tikka WH SS, then it could be worth $500 to $600.  If it is used, then it would be adjusted accordingly.  I have bought several WH SS Tikkas and they were in that price range.

i have the blued version of that rifle, but in .308.  It cost me 420 NIB.  so i suspect a stainless model is about $100 more NIB.

I can't speak for the gun market in OK, but here in WV you'd be lucky to get $450 out of it. They are at the gun shows all the time, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why people don't want to pay anything for them. A stainless one will sell now and then, but overall the 595/695's don't sell well at all here. They're fantastic guns, I've had several and have yet to have one that didn't shoot like a laser. If I wanted a cheap deer rifle, I'd hit the gun shows and haggle one down, I'm sure I could get one for $400 and probably less. The last 595 at the local shop was practically given away, because it had set there for so long. It was a sporter 22/250, blue/syn, and that had a lot to do with it's lack of popularity, but still they just don't seem to sell.
Now the T3, that's a whole different ball game. You can't keep them in stock. Believe me, I have two of them right now.

Thanks for all the replies guys.  :D
It seems like some have misunderstood my original post and assumed that I was talking about a stainless model, but it is a blued barrel instead. Lots of great prices and estimations coming out so I let it go for a while. My buddy gave $400 for his so apparently he bought it about right and could only expect to get about that much back out of it, even though it is a tack dirver.
Nope I'm not trying to get this one, he wouldn't think of parting with it right now, but who knows what may transpire somewhere down the line.
Thanks again guys.
