Buffalo Classic Rear Sights???
« on: January 17, 2005, 03:20:39 PM »
:D Hello Guys,

Just wanted to know.  I was reading the threads about sights for the BC 45-70.  I saw where the Montanan recommends a few.  One he recommended was the Smith Ladder Sight.  Does anyone have any experience with this one?   How well does it work?  OR....Is the sight for the Sharps better?

Thanks for your responses!!

Buffalo Classic Rear Sights???

i have one on my buff classic and it is a real nice sight.
yes, it mounts directly on the barrel using the rear two screwholes that are already there.
the only thing i had a problem with was the rear hole is very shallow. i guess because it sits over the chamber. i just had to shorten the screw that i had for it , very minor problem.
anyways it really has made my bc alot more accurate. you will just have to use the tall "bead on a post" insert to accomadate the increased height of the rear sight.
the ladder has four clicks of adjustment between each numbered increment and with the set screw on the side of the slide you can lock it in at any setting you want. like i said in another post, i set my ladder on number 6 and shot a nice group on my 500 yard steel.
using the standard buckhorn part of the sight it hits dead on out to 150 yards.
i bought mine from brownells for 140 bucks plus shipping but i think it was well worth the money
