Temps in OK for the PD shoot

Since there seems to be a lot of talk about how hot it is liable to be here for the prarie dog shoot planned (tentatively) for sometime during the first two weeks in June, I thought it a good idea to start a thread about that subject. Only Wlscott can give us the most accurate info but this thread might be good for updates and a good one to keep up a running forecast for those planning to attend.
I don't know for sure about Guymon, but I was born in Altus and I know it can get pretty hot there. I'm on the border now at Lake Texoma, central part of the state right where Texas meets up with us, and the humidity is the killer here. Could only be 80 degrees, but if the humidity is 60 to 70% you're gonna feel like you're dying if you do any kind of activity for very long. I would imagine that the heat out in Guymon is more related to desert heat that is dry and more tolerable.
Now realistically, June temps for the first two weeks will probably only be high 80's for the highs and probably high 60's overnight. (Again Wlscott can shed more light here too) That is providing we don't have one of those freak Okie weather patterns during that time. For the last month here we have had temps ranging from 80 all the way down to the teens, sometimes overnight changes too. It was 76 here one day a couple weeks ago and then it was 35 for a high the next day.
Ok now we have a thread to keep info going on temps for the next 5 months. Hope it is helpful.

Thanks for the info. Living up here you become half polar bear. I can handle the cold pretty well but high heat is something else. Our humidity is pretty high here in the James River valley in the summer but the air dries up some when the cold hits.

NORMALLY.....the 100+ degree temps don't get cranking until the last part of July through August.  In early June we should see 80's- lower 90's and very dry and windy.  There is however, a good chance that you might see a 100 degree day.  It is true that it is a dry heat, and not as bad as a high humidity heat.......but, 100+ degrees is 100+ degrees, no matter what the humidity is :twisted:

The best times of the day to shoot are in the morning before the wind gets cranked up, and in the evening after it drops.  

Of course, this is Oklahoma, and I have to put a disclaimer here........

If you don't like the weather....wait ten minutes and it'll change :wink:

:-) Sound`s alot like Ohio weather maybe not as hot but the temp can be
30-40 deg from one day to the next. It was 65 tue, 18 and snowing today

Yep.  It is...and it does.  Wish I could've been out hunting coyotes today.  

I'd probably pop a rivet out of the Titinium plate in my head if I did though.  Then the doc would REALLY be mad at me
