Hello Lefty:
That sounds like a load for whitetail. I've no experience with sabots or 777,  but 90 grs. of stuff in a 50 cal. frontloader should be OK. 45 cal. balls been used for a long time for deer, so why not a bullet?
I'm using 80 gr. of 2f with a patched RB in my 50 cal TC Hawken, works for the Muzzleloader season here in Pa. It's also nice for trying to walk up on a maneatin groundhog in the summertime. A farmer gets a big smile when I show up with my flinchlock. Guess he figures I'm harmless.
How does your Firestorm work with round ball? What part of Pa., east or west?

That slug is big enough to kill deer. As long as you are getting good groups with it it is ok.
The .50 round ball is 175 grains and is a great deer killer. I have killed 14 deer and hogs with the .50 patched round ball.  You might want to give them a try, lots cheaper than sabots.
Aim small don't miss.

Sorry did"nt see Profile filled out now. don't know about round balls, Fire storm is made to shot sabots 1/48 twist(I think).  North Western Pa Butler County. I didn't know if 185grHp was big enought or should I use 240 gr for White Tail. I shot a buck with round ball behind shoulder a few years ago, tracked that deer,( in snow) 5 hours finally got him 9pm.
Im an Archer but this flintlock sure is enertaining.

Dear Lefty:
 Hello neighbor, Southern Allegheny county.
1:48 twist might not be a problem, your rifle might like them anyhow. Wouldn't cost much to find out. Ya'll be careful now, ya hear? Them RBs is addictive, worse if you cast em yourself. It's amazing how many you can shoot in an afternoon.                       Woodbutcher
