Hi:

Is there any company that is making a copy of the Savage Model 99? Any chance that Savage could come out with a limited edition of the Savage Model 99 ?

No, not that I've heard to date. I've inquired from Savage Arms on a few occasions as to the possibility of remaking the M99 but have never heard any response from the company. Besides, if they were to remake the last models with the clip magazine, I would consider it to be a poor excuse for the original design that A.W. Savage first created in 1892.

Coyote: It came with a rotary internal non removable magazine, the newer one had a removable magazine completely different and not of the same quality.

I doubt if Savage will ever make another rotary mag 99. They are a small company with limited disposable risk capital and there are still alot of outstanding originals around. Winchester and Brownig, on the other hand can afford to pay Miroku of Japan, to build those excellent nostalgia pieces they offer. The new Win catalog is pretty sweet. When they offer a true Model of 1894 in 30 WCF (26" bbl, long forend w/ cap, straight grip, cresent stock and no silly engraving) I'll bite hard.

I own both a model A and a model CD both in .308 caliber, the A is rotary magazine and the CD is detatchable. The detatchable is my favorite hunting rifle of the two for a couple reasons. With the action open the magazine can be loaded just like the rotary if you want, when unloading you lever the rifle 1 time and remove the clip and you have only 1 loose cartridge to deal with. I would take a look at a "new" rotary Savage 99 but I think its unlikely to happen.

The Savage 99 is still made on a VERY limited basis, usually through special order from an independent company/distributor who requests a large number be made. The only way to get them is through the particular distributor. Last run I know of was through Jerry's Sport Center, in 2003.

They are a wholesale distributor. You will have to have, at minimum, an FFL, but more than likely they are looking for bulk purchases.

Just so y'all don't waste your time - you can't even browse Jerrys Sport Center without an FFL or some garbage. You have to apply for a customer number first.

I guess I'll have to get my gun dealer to check for me
