Springfield Armory Longslide...my first 25m=Sub 2" grou
« on: January 03, 2005, 02:52:37 AM »
My Brother came home to share his new toy with me this Christmas...a Springfield 1911 Longslide.  He has never been an amazing shot with our glocks but pretty good with my Super redhawk.
He set it up at 10m and did a pretty nice group, by the end of the day he was doing speed drills and kepping it sub 5 inch...My turn...
I like to shoot rest first to see where its hitting at 25m...and wham...7 rounds, sub 2inch...I was floored...I shoot that well maybe at 7m with my glock 30,  and 3inch  with a Super blackhawk hunter at 25m but never with an auto...
I owe you 1911 folks an apology...you do know what you are doing in choice of gun...I spent 200 more rounds falling inlove with for the first time with an auto...I never thought I'd say that I'd like an auto as much as a single action revolver...wow...I saw the Light!

Uh oh. Another one is hooked.

Congratulations on the great group. Now the danger is that you'll get the bug to compete. (Which isn't such a danger at all, unless you get into one of those games that requires lots and lots of rounds downrange, and the consequent ammo bills.)
Safety first

I have a Dillion 550 press...and 45 is by far the easiest and one of the cheapest things to reload...I am making them for about 4.00 a box...
its buying the 800 dollar gun that may take some time...oh how I wish it was blued instead...but hey...stainless is fine if it shoots that well...out of 200 rounds...not one failure...not that I expected one...

I'd like to know how this gun becomes a 45 Super.  Does one have to buy a conversion kit?

It's my Bro's gun, and he has returned to Alaska, I'll ask him if he knows...now I am saving up for one of my own...
I was wondering the answer to that question myself...
