Hello all, I'm new to the forum, and want to comment, I've been looking for a site like this for quite a while. I have a 760 in .300 savage that has been in my family for around 50 years (I can't even begin to count how many deer it has harvested over the years). In the last three years that I have used it (had to beg my dad to finally let go of it) I've taken two nice mule deer (would have been 3 for 3 if not for a brain fart on my part). My question is about the stamped steel dust cover. When the bolt is in the forward position, the cover is tight in the front of the ejection port, but loose in the rear of the ejection port. Is there any way to fix this so it doesn't rattle/jingle. It appears to be a common thing with 760's. I've noticed on the 7600's they have a plastic dust cover, and even though it appears to hold tight and not jingle, I've been told that they tend to crack. I would prefer to keep the stamped steel dust cover, and quiet it in some way that doesn't involve my finger applying pressure on it while I walk. I love this rifle, and will live with its mild quirk if I have to, but since this appears to be a fairly knowledgable forum, I had to ask.
